Vika Retires at Family Circle Cup With Leg Injury: Did She Tank the Match?

courtesy: Chris Smith/www.familycirclecup.com

Victoria Azarenka was forced to retire in her second round match against American Christina McHale. It appears that she is still on the mend from a thigh injury that hindered her performance in Marbella last week. She tweeted that she is on her way back to Europe to continue treatment and rehab. She was also pretty upset with some things that she has been reading on the Internet about the match. Evidently, some (in her home country) feel that she may have "tanked" the match. She's pretty upset about it and tweeted,

"hello everyone! i had to retire from my match today, because of my injury i got in marbella! too bad i didnt have enough time to get it better tried to do everything possible, but unfortunately i couldnt do anything..im going back to europe now to continue treatment and hopefully i will be ready very soon! now from the internet i read some nasty things about me and my match today! specially from my own country! its a shame..so for people who think i tanked the match or whatever they certainly dont have a f***ing clue what they talking about...and rules of wta tour thanks for the support guys! Love U"

Note to Vika: don't let everything you read get to you. Better yet, stop reading stuff about you on the internet. Most of it's lies and someone's opinion who doesn't know anything about tennis! *ironic smile*
